Unbaptism

The Unbaptism of Severance A Lupheris Rite

This isn’t about curses or hexes. It’s about taking back the power that was stolen from you, power that the church and religious organizations claimed as their own.

To tear away vows, bindings, and lingering influence from religious systems that never had the right to hold you. This is not gentle. It is reclaiming your soul from hands that never should have touched it.

Why Perform an Unbaptism?

An unbaptism is more than a ritual of rejection; it’s a declaration of sovereignty. Baptisms and similar rites are often forced upon one before they can choose, binding them to a faith, a deity, or a system that claims dominion over their spirit. Those vows can linger like chains, shaping guilt, fear, and shame long after you’ve walked away.

To unbaptize is to cut the cord to strip away the mark of ownership, and reclaim your spirit as your own. It is an act of defiance and a rite of rebirth. It says no more to religious control, cleanses the imprint of a religion that never asked your consent, and opens the way to walk fully on your own path.

For some, it is freedom. For others, healing. For all, it is a fire forged oath:
I belong to my fucking self.

Quick Unbaptism: A Field Rite

You’ll Need
One relic (or a symbol written on paper)
A lighter or matches
Dirt (preferably at a crossroads, riverbank, or graveyard edge

The Rite
Find Your Place
Go to a liminal spot, a crossroads, a river’s edge, an abandoned place, or even your backyard at daybreak or dusk. Somewhere, the world feels thin.

The Naming
Hold the relic or paper. Say aloud what it is and what power it had over you.
“This is the cross that bound me,
What was bound without my consent, I now lose.
By my will, by my right, by my spirits demand it is undone.”
If you are changing your name, you can even put it in.
“This is the name they gave me.
This was the water that claimed me.”

The Severance
Set fire to the relic or paper.
While it burns, say:
“Your chains are ash.
I am unbaptized.
I am mine.”
Alternatively
“No Creed, no altar, no God, nor Master claims me.
I am (insert name), and I am unbaptized!

The Burial
Scatter the ashes or press the remains into the dirt.
Cover them with earth using your hands.
Spit once onto the spot as a final rejection.

The Claiming
Stand tall, touch your chest, and speak:
“No Creed, no altar, no God,
nor Master claims me.
I am whole, I am free,
I am mine
I am unbaptized.”
